If you’re interested in becoming a pilot, you’ll have to complete both ground and flight training, per the FAA’s regulations. For those in Southern California, Los Angeles flight instruction is among the best in the nation, with a bevy of qualified instructors and schools from which to choose. Once you complete your ground course and pass the written exam, you’ll be ready to proceed to the actual flight training.

Los Angeles Flight Instruction Basics

You must complete at least 40 hours of flight training, at least 20 of which must be with a certified instructor. You must then complete at least 10 solo hours before you can take the FAA exam to get your pilot’s license. Most individuals end up flying many more than the 40 hours required before taking their licensing test.

During your Los Angeles flight instruction, you’ll have to pay the instructor for his time as well as the cost of airplane rentals. If you’re a member of Eight Ball Flying Club, you can rent one of the club’s four airplanes to use for your Los Angeles flight instruction. All our planes are operated out of Van Nuys Airport in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles.

We are affiliated with an excellent flight instructor with whom you can complete your flight training. If you already have a flight instructor you love, you are also free to use her. We just need to confirm that your flight instructor is indeed certified and possesses a clean record.
